William (Bill) H. Wepner Jr., age 76, of Green Bay, WI, formerly of Ripon, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.
William was born October 8, 1923 in Waupaca, WI, a son to William H. Sr. and Mary (Taggart) Wepner. He graduated from Ripon High School and farmed in the Markesan area. On February 23, 1946, he married Marie Scharschmidt. She passed away in 1987. In 1968, he moved to Ripon and was employed at Mercury Marine of Fond du Lac until his retirement after which he moved to Green Bay.
William was a past member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ of Ripon. He served his country in the Navy from 1941-1945 in World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Schultz-Klemp-Wentland Post #5278.
Survivors include a special friend, Christine (Teenee) Lindner of Green Bay; two sons, Gregory (Judi) Wepner of La Mesa, CA and Thomas (Jane) Wepner of North Fond du Lac; two daughters, Mary (Pat) Meaney of Pembine, WI and Kathy (Mike) Luedke of Ripon. He is also survived by a sister, Charlotte Wepner of Alabama and a sister-in-law, Cathy Wepner of Oregon and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and his parents.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 1, 2000 at 2:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with visitation from 12:00 until the time of the service. Reverend Harley Tretow will officiate. Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial has been established.
