William Lynch Sandberg, age 78, of Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
William "Bill" L. Sandberg was born April 24, 1947, in Ripon, WI, son to Beatrice and Victor Sandberg. William grew up in Green Lake and graduated from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in Geography. On September 28, 1979, he married Laurie Seefeldt of Milwaukee. In the winter of 1977, William proudly built his family log cabin home and moved in.
William spent most of his life as an independent business owner in the Green Lake, WI area. His businesses included pier service, tree service, landscaping, and property management. William was passionate about his work and was known for his skilled eye for detail. He was known above all for being a kind, generous, supportive friend and family member.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Sandberg; his sister, Victoria Connolly; and his brother, Robert "Bob" Sandberg. He is also survived by his daughter, Vanessa Sandberg; his son, Chad Sandberg; and his granddaughter, Amaya Sandberg. He further survived by nieces and nephews from both his sister, Victoria, and brother, Robert "Bob".
William was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing. In his younger years, he embarked on many outdoor adventures, including camping and hiking. He had an keen eye for photography and was known to capturing beautiful outdoor scenery. For many years, he helped run an ice fishing business and worked as a fishing guide during the summers in Green Lake. William also enjoyed finding and collecting arrowheads, and was a strong advocate for the preservation of burial mounds in the Green Lake area.
Visitation for William "Bill" will be held from 11:00 a.m until 1:00 p.m on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Karin Darenne officiating. A memorial is being established in his name.
