Wilfred J. McCauley, age 97, of Ripon, WI, passed away on January 23, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI.
Wilfred was born on May 13, 1919, the son of Elgie and Ruby (Kintz) McCauley, in Richland County, WI. In 1948 he married Ella Froehlich at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hill Point, WI. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, as well as a former member/elder of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Reedsburg, WI. Wilfred was a dairy farmer all of his life and a member of the Sauk County Holstein Breeders Association.
Wilfred is survived by his wife Ella; two sons, Darwin (Wendy) McCauley of Wonewoc, WI, and Darrell McCauley of Ripon, WI; grandchildren Katie (Jeremy) Schmidt, Tiffany (fiancé Chris Glod) McCauley, Matthew McCauley; great-grandchildren, Hallie, Ella, and Madilyn; sisters, Genevieve Hilleshiem, Lucille Froehlich, and Janice (Ike) Kiel; a brother Vaughn (Betty) McCauley, brother-in-law, Walter Froehlich; other nieces; nephews; and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milford and Gordon McCauley; sisters, Dorothy Foley and Norma Markley; brothers-in-law, Alfred, Reinhold, Gerhardt, Leonard, Bernhart, and Otto Froehlich.
A visitation for Wilfred will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, 54971.
A funeral service for Wilfred will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 27, 2017, at Messiah Lutheran Church, with Reverend Bryan Fritsch officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Hill Point, WI, at a later date. A memorial is being established in Wilfred’s name.
