Walter Stagg

Walter J. Stagg, age 87, of Waupun, WI, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Walter was born in Chicago Heights, IL, on July 3, 1929, the son of Walter and Helen (Wozalis) Stagoski. On September 3, 1949, he married his best friend Carol Emmert, who passed away in 2013. Walter enjoyed raising his family on Green Lake, where he loved to fish and water ski. He also enjoyed fishing on Lake Kabetogama in MN. Walter traveled the world and traveled in their motor home, with Carol as his co-pilot. He enjoyed his winters in Mesa, AZ. He and his famous witty one-liners will be greatly missed.
Walter is survived by his children, Patricia Lewis, Michael (fiancé Lee Katherine Baird) Stagg, Theresa (Rick) Klawitter, and Kathy (Jay) Tavs-Wolfgram; 10 grandchildren: Kristian (Dave) Hamilton, Danny Lewis, Tim Lewis (fiancé Tove Tupper), Jeff (Casey) Stagg, Mickey Stagg, Andy Stagg, Justin (Kate) Klawitter, Ryan (Jessica) Klawitter, Jamie (Greg) Dragolovich, and Stephanie (Grant) Stettler; 13 great-grandchildren; lifelong best friends Kenny and Theresa Hellriegel and their family; special friend Rosemary Callis; and his Monte Vista Resort 12th St. Happy Hour Gang. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carol.
Walter’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Agnesian Hospice, Michael D. Wachtel Cancer Center, Evergreen of Oshkosh, Visiting Angels and all the people who helped care for him in his last months. His family is very grateful for all the love and support they have received.
Per Walter’s wishes a private family service will be held. Memorials may be made to Agnesian Hospice, 400 County Road K, Fond du Lac, WI, 54937, in Walter’s name.
