Walter was born in Unterheimbach, Germany on March 1, 1926. He was the eldest son of Otto and Marie Rueger. He served his country in the Army at the end of WWII as a member of the military police and as an interpreter/driver. Walter married Dorothy Malotky on July 31, 1948. They lived in Palatine, IL and later in Ripon and were blessed with 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
