Walter Donald Anderson, age 81, of Markesan, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at his home with his family at his side.
Walter was born in Chicago, IL, on September 30, 1928, the son of Walter G. and Agnes Cecilia (Swanson) Anderson. He graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, and retired from the Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR) in 1977, after 22 years of service. In 1955 he married Joslyn Bern in Chicago. Walter was a Journeyman Electrician and a member of the Local 134 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Chicago, the American Legion, Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon, Boy Scouts of America as a leader for 21 years, and the Marine Corps Reserve Officer Association (MCROA).
Survivors include his wife Joslyn of Markesan; his children, Bruce (Shannon) Anderson of Waupaca, WI, Julie (Ralph) Fugate of Bristol, WI, Karen (Rick) Morgan of Austin, TX, and David (Angie) Anderson of Belleville, IL; five grandchildren, Erik & Travis Anderson, Joshua & Hannah Fugate, and Ella Anderson; one sister, Elaine Baker of DeSoto, WI; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradley; two nephews, William and Kenneth Baker; one great nephew, Jacob Dumke; and his brother-in-law, William Baker.
Visitation for Walter D. Anderson will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, from 9-11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 430 Griswold Street, Ripon.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon, with the Reverend Maurice Schaus officiating. Full Military Honors will follow at the church. Memorials can be given to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Agnesian Hospice Hope, or Hope Lodge (American Cancer Society) 611 West Doege Street, Marshfield, WI 54449-1925, or the charity of your choice.
