Violet M. Schmuhl, age 89, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.
Violet was born on August 18, 1929 in Neenah, WI, the daughter of William and Cecelia (Fellner) Christian. She graduated from high school in Neenah. On November 1, 1952, Violet married Franklin Schmuhl in Fairwater. She helped on the family farm where they lived until their sons took over and then moved to the village of Fairwater. Violet also worked at Dean Foods in Fairwater. She was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church where she helped as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Altar Guild, and was involved in other various organizations. Violet loved gardening and other yard work, especially mowing the lawn.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Dan) Kehlenbrink of Green Lake, WI; two sons, Dale (Kelly) Schmuhl and Dean (Jennifer) Schmuhl, both of Brandon, WI; grandchildren, Megan (Kyle) Kuntz, Zachary (Jocelyn) Kehlenbrink, Amanda (Josh) Douma, Emily (Cory) Strahota, Carissa Schmuhl, Alyssa Schmuhl, and Brevin Schmuhl; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Mallory (Eric) Krueger and Zachary (Alyssa) Meyer; five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Miracle and Florence Brown; a brother, Robert Christian; sister-in-law, Marge Schmuhl; brother-in-law, Harlan (Lois) Schmuhl; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cecelia Christian; husband, Franklin Schmuhl; brothers-in-law, Jerry Brown and Art Schmuhl; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Schmuhl.
Visitation for Violet will be held from 9:30 am until 11:30 am on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church Street, Fairwater, WI, 53931.
A Memorial Service for Violet will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, with Rev. Samuel Hamilton-Poore officiating. Inurnment will take place in Fairwater Cemetery at a later date. Memorials in her name may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater or Hometown Hospice, 55 S. Main St., Fond du Lac, WI, 54935.
