Thomas Lemahieu

October 22, 1950 — December 31, 2021

Thomas C. LeMahieu, age 71, formerly of Plymouth and currently of Ripon, passed away on New Year’s Eve 2021 as the result of Covid 19 Complications.
Tom was born October 22ND 1950 to Carl D. and Jeanne (Towne) LeMahieu. Tom was a dedicated father and member of the Plymouth Community. He raised his son Tommy as a single father when single fathers were rare. He dedicated his life to caring for his son through his medical and educational hurdles and raised a wonderful son.
Tom worked at Kohler Company for 32 years. After leaving Kohler he worked in the children’s ward of Winnebago Mental Health, where he was affectionally known as “Grandpa Tom” and was famous for his unthreatening manner. Whenever a client was having a problem or meltdown, you heard calls on the ward for “Grandpa Tom” to come to the rescue.
Tom was also a school board member for Lightfoot School in Sheboygan Falls in the early 90s. He felt it was his duty to serve the school that his son attended.
As a member of the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years, Tom answered every call to duty and worked to become a First Responder so he could help more people.
Tom also served as a big brother with Big Brothers and Big Sisters for many years. Those boys he mentored became a part of our family. Tom included them in everything, no matter how small. They were his bonus brothers.
As a Boy Scout leader and later an Explorer Post leader, he spent most weekends camping and supervising activities. He especially enjoyed the rock climbing trips and the extreme camping. He helped many members achieve their “Below Zero Camping” badges. Those boys made memories to last a lifetime.
Tom also was a member of the Plymouth Jaycees in the 80's and especially enjoyed the people in the Jaycees. He made lifelong friends and great memories.
He was a lifetime member of Salem United Church of Christ and spent many summers chaperoning their Youth Group praise trips. Many of them will remember his silliness and the fun around the campfire.
Tom was an avid photographer. Beginning by developing film in our family’s basement in the 70’s, he progressed to filmmaking as well starting in the 80s. The boxes and boxes of pictures that he took for family parties and community events are a testament to his ability to capture those special moments in our lives. He had a knack for capturing candid moments when people never even realized he was there.
Tom is survived by his son, Thomas Charles II (Tommy), his sister Kathryn Roeder and her husband Mark, his Nephew and Godson Jason Roeder and Jason’s fiancée Courtney Stewart, his brother Ron’s wife, Nova, his Uncle Chuck Towne, his “little brothers” Mark and David Halle and a multitude of cousins.
Tom was preceded in Death by his parents, Carl and Jeanne, his brother Ronald, and his Aunts and Uncles: Judy Towne, Geraldine and Charles Sramek, Salina Versnik, Josena Torsch, Jennie (Jane) and Andrew Bellinder, Ervin and Mary Ann LeMahieu, Melvin and Elizabeth LeMahieu, Edward and Edna LeMahieu and Norman Edward LeMahieu, who died in infancy.

Due to Covid restrictions, there will be no service. Tom will be inurned in Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth this summer with family and friends attending. Reverend Hoppert from Salem UCC will officiate.
