Thomas Kono

Thomas Richard Kono, age 75, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.

Tom was born December 26, 1942, in Akron, OH, the son of Arthur and Iva (Mielke) Kono. He graduated from Ripon High School. In 1961, Tom married Gerri Priebe in Menominee, MI. He worked as a manager and owned a foundry. Tom was chairman of the board at Ripon Community Credit Union, member of the American Foundry Association, on the church council at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a member and a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gerri Kono of Green Lake, WI; daughter, Cheryl (Steven) Wunder of Fond du Lac, WI; son, Cory (Sherry) Kono of Ripon, WI; four grandchildren, Kira (Courtney) Wunder, Megan (Nic) Kotsonis, Dustin (Kayla) Kono and Courtnie Kono; five great-grandchildren, Layla, Dexter, Nichole, Arhianna and Elijah; brother, Dennis (Nancy) White; sister, Mary (Lou) Stublinski and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Weick and Audrey Kelma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Iva Kono; in laws, Martin and Margaret Priebe; brother, Gerald Kono; brothers-in-law, Harold Weick, Roger Priebe Sr., Bruce Kelma and Dennis Wagner and sisters-in-law, Diane Walsh and Gloria Wagner.

Visitation for Tom will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 9 – 11:00 am at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 440 Lake St., Green Lake, WI 54941.

Memorial Service for Tom will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 11:00 am at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Lake with Reverend Rodney E. Dietsche officiating. Inurnment will take place at Bluffton Cemetery in the Town of Brooklyn at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Lake.
