Stephen Duane Walker, age 64, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2021 at his home.
Steve was born on February 25, 1957 at Ripon Memorial Hospital, in Ripon, Wisconsin. He was the son of Dale and Dolores (Resheski) Walker. Steve graduated from Green Lake High School in 1975 and went on to receive his Bachelors degree in Computer Systems Analysis and devoted his career to improving his skills. Steve knew you could never stop learning and he was a lifetime student. Steve was also a lifetime adventurer.
Steve loved to travel and spent as much time as possible with his daughter, Allison Walker. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman, backpacking and camping throughout Arizona. He also enjoyed skydiving, walked a 1000-stair marathon, drove a motorcycle, and was a responsible firearms owner. Whenever he was able to, he would come home to Wisconsin to spend time with his family and friends.
Steve always had time to help a friend and volunteered as a foster child advocate for Court Appointed Special Advocates. Steve loved to write stories about his daughter as she was growing up and would send newsletters every month to his family in Wisconsin about the adventures she had, the things she was learning and the times they spent together. He was a very proud father.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Allison Walker; sisters, Dr. Susan (Terry Webb) Sneed, Janet (special friend Ron Moser) Teske, Mary (Glen) Otto, Wendy (Don) Bogdanske, Jeanne (Don) Sonntag, and Sandy (special friend Dave) Walker; one brother, Tom Walker; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Dale Walker; his younger brother, Jim Walker; and his mother, Dolores Walker recently passed away on July 1, 2021.
A visitation for Steve will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 9 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake, 530 Ruth Street, Green Lake, WI 54941.
A Memorial Mass for Steve will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake, with Father Peter Auer officiating. If you are unable to attend, you may view a livestream of Steves service by visiting www.OLOL.center and click on the livestream button at 11:00 am on Tuesday. Inurnment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Princeton, WI. A memorial is being established in his name.
