Shirley Vollbrecht

Shirley Mae Ruth (Haase) Vollbrecht, age 96, formerly of Ripon, WI, died on December 15, 2022, with her loving family by her side.
Shirley was born on July 31, 1926, daughter of William and Emma (Batzer) Haase of Brandon, WI. She attended Union Prairie Grade School and graduated from Brandon High School. On October 14, 1944, she married Marvin Vollbrecht at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon. They made their home on the Vollbrecht family farm south of Ripon. Shirley and Marvin worked side by side running the dairy farm and raising 5 children. Later on they enjoyed traveling the country to visit family and taking motor coach tours making many new friends. They also enjoyed bowling and were avid sports fans especially for Wisconsin teams. She liked to remember attending a Packer game at State Fair Park. Shirley got to celebrate her 90th birthday at a Brewers game at Miller Park.
In 2005 Shirley and Marvin moved from the farm to Stoney Ridge Apartments in Ripon. In 2013 they moved to Menomonee Falls, WI to be closer to family. Shirley was most recently a resident of the Arboretum Assisted Living.
Shirley was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon, WI where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school. She was a "charter" member of the Dorcas circle, sang in choir, served on the church council and social concerns committee, and as a secretary of the Church Woman United. After moving, she became a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Menominee Falls, WI.
Shirley's love for her family was monumental. She had so many memories of time spent with family that she loved to share. Shirley is survived by her children, Gary (Patty) Vollbrecht (Vacaville, CA), Dale (Richard) Suggs (Vilonia, AR), daughter-in-law, Kathy (Alan) Vollbrecht (Moorpark, CA), Bruce (Julie) Vollbrecht (Menomonee Falls, WI); son-in-law, David (Marianne) McNeill (Claksville, TN); and sister-in-law, Ruby (Walter) Vollbrecht (Ripon, WI); grandchildren, Kevin (Melanie) Vollbrecht, Carrie (Al) Forbes, Sam (Felisha) Suggs, Jamieson Vollbrecht, Matthew McNeil, Brian Vollbrecht, Sara (Jayme) Lewis, Rebecca (Sean) McGuire, Kelli (Chris) Cessac, Bridget (John) Fredrickson and Christina (David) Mitzenmacher and many great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband Marvin, daughter Debbie and son Alan. She was the youngest and last surviving of five siblings.
Visitation for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 430 W. Griswold, Ripon, WI 54971.
A funeral service for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Melissa Hrdlicka and Meredith Musaus of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Menominee Falls, WI officiating. Interment will take place at Brandon Cemetery. Memorials in her name can be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon, WI.
