Shirley Bender, age 85, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Juliette Manor in Berlin.
Shirley was born February 20, 1932, in Swea City, IA, the daughter of Harley Frederick and Eva Rose (Mansmith) Dorsey Sr. On August 15, 1953, she married Donald Bender in Berlin. Shirley worked in the Stock Room at Green Giant Canning Factory. She was an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. She enjoyed helping out the ladies of the United Methodist Women. In her later years, Shirley managed the Maple Tree Apartments in Ripon. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo.
Survivors include her five children, Debra (Thomas) Henning of Ripon, WI, Gary (Lucy) Bender of Brandon, WI, Mark (Mary) Bender of Eldorado, WI, Todd (Joan) Bender of Ripon and Wade (special friend, Starla) Bender of Ripon, WI. Shirley is further survived by ten grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two step-grandsons and one brother, Harley (Kathy) Dorsey Jr. of Pickett, WI. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, one brother and one sister.
Visitation for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Thursday, June 8, 2017, from 9 – 10:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Shirley will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 10:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. Reverend Michael Morning will officiate. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in the Town of Pine Grove, WI. A memorial is being established in her name.
