Rudolph Handrich

Rudolph “Rudy” Fredrick Handrich, age 76, of Ripon, WI, passed away on March 1, 2023, at Harbor Haven Health & Rehab in Fond du Lac, WI.

Rudy was born in Manawa, WI, on November 7, 1946, son of Rudolph and Sylvia (Breed) Handrich. He graduated from Custer High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Air Force. He served our country for three tours during the Vietnam War as an Explosive Specialist. In 1969, after his time in the service, he married Janice Pepin in Milwaukee, WI. He spent many years as a boiler engineer and as a deep tunnel construction worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. Rudy and Janice moved to Ripon, WI in 2013. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. Rudy was a very intelligent man with a curious mind; he was a forever student who enjoyed research and equations. He was known as a loving, caring, funny, gentle and brave man.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Handrich; children, Fredrick (Elizabeth) Handrich, Tracey (John) Bakken and Christina (Manuel) Garcia; grandchildren, Martin, Ricardo and Alejandra; step-grandchildren, PJ, Lisette and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Angel; siblings, Mary Gaffey-Handrich, Charles (Florence “Flo”) Handrich, Lois (Joe) Huebert and Beth (Tom) Giese; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Sylvia Handrich and his in-laws, Edward and Claudia Pepin.

Visitation for Rudy will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.

A memorial service for Rudy will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon, with Rev. Dr. Kevin P. Mundell officiating. You may view a livestream of Rudy’s service at 12:00 pm here LIVESTREAM. A final salute and military honors will follow the service at the church. Inurnment will take place at Union Cemetery in the township of Union, WI, at a later date. A memorial is being established in Rudy’s name.
