Ronald Tischer

August 26, 1948 — March 4, 2018

Ronald James Tischer, age 69, moved on to his eternal life on March 4, 2018, from St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI, following complications from various ongoing medical issues, with his wife and children at his side. Ron was born in Fond du Lac on August 26, 1948, the son of Elmer and Agnes (Thielitz) Tischer. He grew up in Fond du Lac and was a graduate of Goodrich High School.

Ron served his country in the Air Force from 1967 to 1971, attaining the rank of sergeant in the military police.

In 1981, Ron met and married Carrie. Life came between them and they parted in 1989. But they were soul mates, and fate brought them back together in 1997. They remarried in 1999 and spent their second chance enjoying a very deep and caring relationship with each other.

Ron was employed by Mercury Marine of Fond du Lac for 43 years, retiring in 2009.

Ron enjoyed bowling and was active with numerous leagues over the years, before health issues forced him to give up the sport he loved. Many people knew him by the nickname “Hook”, which was a name he was dubbed by his bowling colleagues for the tremendous hook ball he threw. He served as league secretary for numerous associations and was always willing to help new bowlers learn the game.

Ron was an avid NASCAR fan, a Packer backer and a Brewer’s booster. He enjoyed fishing and hunting until health issues interfered. He also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino, and was looking forward to the bus trip to North Star next week. Ron’s greatest joys came from spending time with his grandchildren.

Ron was a very giving man. He was always willing to help to others. Ron was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carrie; his children, Shawn (Tina) Tischer of Tigerton, Dawn (Tim) Engel of St. Cloud, and Heidi (Lee) Martin of Oakfield; grandchildren: Travis, Taylor, and Trevor Engel; Hudson and Addison Martin. He is further survived by his siblings, Ann Beardslee, Patty (Larry) Beardslee and John (Sue) Tischer; brother-in-law, Gary (Cathy) Dahlke and brother-in-law Wayne Coleman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Robert, David, Daniel and Richard and his sister, Mary Coleman; as well as his stepson, Chad Widlake, and brother-in-law, Gary Beardslee.

A visitation for Ronald J. Tischer will be held from 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI, 54971, and again from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the funeral home.

A funeral service for Ronald J. Tischer will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank the NFDL EMT’S and the ER staff at St. Agnes for their efforts. A memorial has been established.

Miss Me – But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room;
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little – but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me – but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me – but let me go.
