Roland Schwandt

Roland R. Schwandt, age 97, of Ripon, WI, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Maplecrest Assisted Living Facility.
Roland was born September 27, 1919, in Green Lake County, WI, the son of Erwin and Clara (Menke) Schwandt. He served in the Army during World War II as an airplane mechanic. On October 1, 1950, he married Vivian Moderow at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan. She preceded him in death on February 8, 1994. Roland has been a long-time member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon.
Roland drove semi-trucks for his father’s livestock hauling business in his early years. He later worked at Green Lake Ready Mix and 4X and was one of the four partners that started Fox Valley Transit, Fox Valley Sand and Gravel and Green Lake Ready Mix and retired from 4X Corporation, where he was in charge of truck maintenance as a supervisor.
Roland is survived by his children, Warren (Rhonda) Schwandt, Curtis (Susan) Schwandt, Mark Schwandt, and Jane Bouc. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Corey Schwandt, Casey Schwandt, Matthew Toll, Crystal Toll, Jason Brantner, Joshua Brantner, Amber (Eric) Parks, Amy (Perry) Michaud, Michael (Amanda) Schwandt, Nicholas (Nicole) Schwandt, Sarah Bouc, and Brett Bouc. Roland is further survived by his great-grandchildren, sister, Betty (Carleton) Ruenger, nieces and nephews and special friend, Evelyn Menke. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister, Bernice McDonald and her husband, Malcolm McDonald and grandson, Tyler Bouc.
Visitation for Roland will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, from 9 – 10:30 am at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 320 Mt. Zion Drive, Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Roland will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 10:30 am at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon. Pastor Michael Sheppard will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairwater Cemetery in the Village of Fairwater. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 320 Mt. Zion Drive, Ripon, WI 54971.
