Rodney Kemnitz

December 17, 1954 — May 2, 2019

Rodney Dean Kemnitz, age 64, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at his home.

Rodney was born December 17, 1954 in Ripon, WI, the son of Irving and Alice (Heitmann) Kemnitz. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Markesan High School in 1973. Rod then started working at PMI in Markesan and continued there for over 40 years. On May 10, 1974, he married Montie Jean Schaufele in Garden City, MI.

Rod was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971. He served as an active member in the Ripon Congregation the rest of his life. He regularly traveled to other congregations throughout the state to give public discourses and assisted in the coordination of large assemblies. As many will attest to, Rod was exemplary in showing genuine care and concern for those in need.

His absence will be profoundly felt, especially by his wife and daughters. Rod was a loving and attentive husband for nearly 45 years. He worked very hard through many challenges to support his family. The love, pride and affection he had for his girls was undeniable. Rod truly enjoyed spending time with his family, going on camping trips and playing games. He was, quite simply, the best dad.

Rod was known to be a kind, caring, energetic, funny, and hospitable person. He loved inviting friends over for grill-outs, volleyball games and Euchre tournaments. Rod seemed to have endless energy, adding to his enormous wood pile, mowing his oversized lawn, and working on all sorts of over-the-top projects. There was also a mischievous streak that would show when he had an irresistible opportunity to tease his siblings. The twinkle in his eyes, the warm, comforting smiles, the firm handshakes, and strong hugs will be thoroughly missed.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Montie Kemnitz of Markesan, WI; daughters, Bree (José Noé) Pizano of Madison, WI and Connie (David) Barbknecht of Markesan, WI; sisters, Mona Kemnitz of Ripon, WI and Marlo (Scott) Janas of High Point, NC; brother, Roger (Joan) Kemnitz of Markesan, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Alice Kemnitz; and his sister, Nancy Sprecher.

A memorial service for Rodney will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 6017 Forest Ridge Road, Green Lake, WI 54941. Raymond Loth will officiate. There will be a time of visitation following the memorial service.
