Robert Herrmann

October 15, 1931 — August 7, 2019

Robert was born October 15, 1931, in Oak Park, IL, the son of George Henry and Lulu Mae (Simmons) Herrmann. He graduated from Palatine High School in 1951 and served our country in the United States Army from 1952-1954. Robert held various employment, on farms, at Speed Queen, Green Lake Plumbing, Green Lake Marina, and as a surveyor for Green Lake County.

Survivors include his brother, Gerry (Sue) Herrmann; niece, Lorie (Rick) Krieger; nephew, Thomas Herrmann; two great-nieces, Hope and Hannah Krieger of Cincinnati, OH; and great-nephew, Conrad (Sara) Krieger of Erlanger, KY; close friends Marti and Dennis McConnell, the Beuthin Brothers, neighbors, numerous friends, and his Legion Family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Herrmann, Jr. in WWII.

Bob, “The Man, The Myth, The Legend,” was an active member of the Green Lake community who loved spending time with his friends and family. He was a member of the Green Lake American Legion Post 306 for over 60 years. He was a past member of the Green Lake Brooklyn Fire Department. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding the ATV trails at “The Cabin” up north with his very good friends, the Beuthin Brothers. Bob loved the lake, and enjoyed swimming, water skiing, and was an avid “sailor” whether it was on the water or the ice. In the summer he was frequently spotted floating on the lake with a beer in one hand, and a cigar in the other. His humor and the stories he would tell of all his adventures will certainly be missed.

Bob’s family wishes to express their appreciation to the wonderful staff at Kindred Hearts, Hospice, and Marti and Dennis McConnell for the wonderful care and loving support they provided to Bob.
