Robert J. Gallert, Sr., age 73, of Oshkosh, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.
Bob was born in Ripon, WI, on February 22, 1944, the son of Art and Myrtle (Link) Gallert. He graduated from Markesan High School. Bob married Sandra Swanke, and she passed away in 1980. In his early years Bob worked in plumbing and heating for thirteen years in Green Lake, WI, then at Mercury Marine for five years. He spent the last twenty four and a half years as a plumber at the University of Oshkosh until retirement. Bob will live in our hearts forever. He was loved by many. He enjoyed many hobbies, such as fishing, hunting, golfing, and going to listen to the bands. He especially loved trap shooting with his friends the last few years, and also going up north to visit his special fishing buddies Ted and Fritz.
Bob is survived by his special friend and significant other of thirty four years, Judith Herring; his son, Rob (Kim) Gallert, Jr. and grandson, Cash, of Seattle, WA; his daughter, Kim Gallert of Oshkosh, WI; a brother, David (Elli) Gallert of Ripon, WI; a sister, Linda (Al) Judas of Green Lake, WI; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Art and Myrtle; and wife, Sandra.
Per Bob's wishes, a private family memorial service will be held for Bob at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. A memorial is being established in his name. His family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Gremminger and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care for Bob.
