Robert "Bob" Lee Taylor

Robert “Bob” Lee Taylor, age 84, of Markesan, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL.

Bob was born on May 29, 1938, in Minot, ND, son of Paul and Gladys (Holmes) Taylor. He graduated from Haddon Heights High School in New Jersey and went on to further his education at Rutgers University in New Jersey, as well as UW Oshkosh where he received his MBA. He always took time to get to know people and was truly interested in them and their wellbeing. He loved campfires and boating at the lake and taking long walks on the beach in Florida.

He began his Career in the Army stationed at Ft. Dix in New Jersey. After working at the Insurance Company of America both in New Jersey and Minneapolis, MN, he transitioned into the computer industry at Control Data in Bloomington, MN.  He was then invited to Ripon College to set up and lead the Computer Department where he stayed until Retirement. Bob was also very involved in community activities and the Ripon Jaycees.  After retirement he went into business with partners at Ripon Data Services, and Video Age Productions.  He also started a vacation rental company called Green Lake Vacations LLC. Bob was a devoted Christian, and served as a Deacon at his church in Florida, Chapel by the Sea.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathro Taylor of Green Lake, WI; his Son, Scott (Amy) Taylor of Ripon, WI; a Grandson, Christian Taylor; Nieces; Nephews; other relatives; and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Martha Hostler and Barbara Jones; and brother, Richard Taylor.

Visitation for Bob will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.

A memorial service for Bob will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon, with Louis Bock and Rev. Harsha Kotian officiating. Inurnment will take place at Rienzi Cemetery in Fond du Lac, WI at a later date. Memorials in his name may be directed to Chapel by the Sea (Restoration Fund) Ft. Myers Beach, FL., and The Missions program at Ripon Immanual United Methodist Church.
