Richard Hahn

June 19, 1931 — March 15, 2019

Richard Gordan Hahn, 87, passed away on Friday, March 15th, 2019 at the Barrett House in Markesan Wisconsin.

Richard was born on June 19, 1931. When he was a baby, due to his large family and hard times, he was taken in by relatives, Julius and Edna Oestreich, where he was raised.

He was married to the love of his life, Shirley Fay Redemann on August 6, 1950. He was married to Shirley for 67 years until her passing in 2017. After their marriage they bought a small farm by Brandon WI. In 1959 they sold the farm and moved to Ripon where Dick worked at Speed Queen. His love for farming led him to rent a small farm by Brandon. In 1964 he had enough of city living and bought a farm outside of Ripon where he milked cows and continued to work at Speed Queen until 1973. He then quit working at Speed Queen and farmed full time. In 1978 he moved to Markesan Wisconsin and farmed with his sons.

In his later years, he enjoyed taking fishing trips and camping at Lake Whitefish, Canada, which he usually did three or four times a year, and helping his son’s farm.

Richard is survived by his children, David (Debbie) Hahn of Markesan, Diane (Dennis) Zanto of Land O Lakes, FL, Gary (Lori) Hahn of Markesan, and Kathy (partner Christophor Ogle) Welch of Ripon, WI; grandchildren, Cinamin Fraley, Derrick Doers, Jennifer Russ, Kelly Hoffmann, Michael Hahn, Brooke Vanevenhoven, Jodi Zanto, Andy Hahn, Corey Hahn, Alexandra Gago, Eric Welch, Nicholas Welch, and Gemma Krause; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is further survived by five sisters, Marion, Dorothy, Elaine, Shirley and Sandy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his parents, grandson, Christopher Hahn and two brothers, Bobby and Wilton.

Richard’s family will hold a Celebration of Life at his son’s house on March 16, 2019 from 3 to 6, located at W2411 County Road B, Markesan Wisconsin. Memorials in his name may be directed to the Green Lake Animal Shelter, 8500 Busse Drive, Green Lake, WI, 54941.
