Phyllis L. Bloch, age 89, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018.
Phyllis was born in Green Lake on July 26, 1928, the daughter of George and Edina (Root) Schultz. She graduated from Green Lake High School and went on to the University of Wisconsin as well as The Milwaukee Business Institute. Upon graduation, Phyllis worked as the Assistant to the Dean of Men, Women, and Registrar at Ripon College. On June 20, 1948, Phyllis married DuWayne Bloch in Green Lake, and he passed away in 2002. From 1959-1992 she was assistant to the Principal and Superintendent of Green Lake area schools, and was the one who made the daily morning announcement over the intercom and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Phyllis became a devoted member of the American Legion Auxillary in the 1950's. She was also a member of The Federated Church of Green Lake. She spent her entire life in Green Lake and was proud of her Malcolm and Root family heritage and their role in Green Lake's history. Phyllis loved to travel and enjoyed reading. She cherished her family; her granddaughters and great-grandchildren meant the world to her.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, D'Etta (Guy) McMillan of Arlington Heights, IL ; granddaughters, Virginia (Pepe) Cerdan of Appleton, WI and Deanna (Terry) Lyons of Sun Prairie, WI; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Gabriella Cerdan, and Collin and Maryn Lyons. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edina Schultz; her husband DuWayne Bloch; and a daughter, Elizabeth Pettack-Mirr.
A visitation for Phyllis will be held from 9:30 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at The Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI, 54941.
A funeral service for Phyllis will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at The Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI, 54971, with Reverend Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. Memorials may be directed to the Green Lake Animal Shelter, N6217 Busse Rd, Green Lake, WI 54941.
