Paul Swalm

Paul Jacob Swalm, age 91, of Ripon, father of Lois Weiske and father-in-law of Kermit “Doc” Weiske, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Ripon Medical Center.
He was born July 1, 1908, in Tremont, PA, a son to Ezra and Laura Jane (Schraeder) Schwalm. He changed his name earlier in life to Swalm because there were so many Schwalm’s in his area. He was educated in Pottsville, PA, and in 1928, he married Dorothy Rist in Media, PA.
He was employed by Treon’s Milk Co. of Pottsville, PA for 37 years, and was the oldest member of the West End Hose Co, also of Pottsville. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon.
He is survived his daughter, Lois Weiske and son-in-law, Kermit “Doc” Weiske, Ripon; 4 grandchildren, Jayne Weiske, Chicago, IL, Steven Weiske & Lyn Herriot Weiske, Princeton, David & Sherri Weiske, Thomasville, GA, and Michael Weiske, Portage and his friend, Shelbie Nellis and her children, Morgan & Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, one son, Edmund Swaim, grandchild, Mary Suzenne Weiske, 2 brothers, Roy and Norman, and 1 sister, Ruth
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, 2000, from 4 until 5:30 PM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 PM with Pastor Paul Holte officiating. lnurnment will be in Garden of the Cross, Ripon. Memorials gifts may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in his name.
