Paul J. Kinas, age 66, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Markesan Resident Home, Markesan, WI.
Paul was born in Wallace, Idaho on September 7, 1952, the son of Thomas and Carole (Gear) Kinas. He graduated from Green Lake High School in 1970 and later attended Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac, WI. In 1993 he married Diana-Winn Galster at the Indian Village of the ABA in Green Lake. Paul was a boat builder and sailor, and was very proud to work on boats. While living in California he worked for Westerly Marine, and helped build yachts that sailed in America's Cup. He also worked at West Marine in Oshkosh, WI, Norton Boat Works in Green Lake, WI, and owned Norwegian Bay Boats also in Green Lake. Paul had a passion for music, played guitar, piano, and cherished his record collection. His favorite was The Beatles. He also loved to read, picking up books whenever and wherever he could. Paul especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren, fishing, watching SpongeBob SquarePants, building Legos, and eating popsicles.
Paul is survived by his wife, Diana-Winn Galster-Kinas of Green Lake, WI; children, Jason Rehkopf of Arcanum, OH, Erick (Krystal) Rehkopf of Whites Creek, TN, Nicholas (Brady) Vandervelde of Green Lake, WI, Michael (Laura) Dombrowski of Elk Mound, WI, Rachael (Jeremiah) Ryf of Winneconne, WI, and Stephen (Anne) Dombrowski of Vernon, WI; grandchildren, Emma, Macy, Ella, Sophia, and Olivia Rehkopf, Jada, Kyra, and Lilly Dombrowski, Connor, Collin, Brody, and Adisyn Ryf; step-granddaughter, Olive; mother, Carole Kinas of Markesan, WI; mother-in-law, Cynthia Galster of Markesan, WI; sisters, Peggy (James) First and Carolyn (Hugh) McWane; brothers, Mark and Kevin (Michelle) Kinas; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Kinas; father-in-law, Russell Galster, and his companion, Sammy.
A Celebration of Life for Paul's family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the American Legion, 518 Water St., Green Lake, WI, 54941. A memorial is being established in his name. Paul's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Markesan Resident Home for their wonderful care of Paul and his family while he was there.
