Patricia C. Hunter

Patricia Catherine (Smith) Hunter, age 99, of Pickett, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.

Pat was born in Fond du Lac County on September 21, 1926, daughter of Howard and Mary (Whalen) Smith. She was a graduate of Rosendale High School, and upon graduation from Oshkosh State Teacher’s College she taught school.

On September 3, 1947, she married Robert McSchooler Hunter. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2011. They shared 63 years together filled with much love and adventure. They raised four sons, Glenn Robert (Paula) of Pickett, WI, Richard Thomas (Diane) of Hatley, WI, Robert Howard of Cottage Grove, WI and Jeffrey James (Mary) of Pickett. Together they owned and operated the Hunter Livestock Order Buying Business. Pat also clerked the Auction Market sales for Midwest Livestock Producers and Equity Livestock Sales, in Lomira, for 38 years before retiring in 2011.

Survivors include her four sons; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and step-grandchildren; a sister, Athleen of Mt. Calvary, WI; brother-in-law, Phillip Ruedinger of Winneconne, WI; and many special nieces and nephews.

Pat was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Howard and Mary Smith; sisters, Ann Ruedinger (who shared her birth date) and Eileen Williams Pinch; brother, James T. Smith; brothers-in-law, Wesley Williams, James Pinch, Cyril Simon, and Russell (Dorothy) Hunter; and sisters-in-law, Bonita (William) Reisler and Marilyn Smith.

A visitation for Pat will take place from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 E. Blossom St., Ripon, WI 54971.

Memorial Mass for Pat will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon, with Fr. Chuck Wrobel officiating.
