Nazaly Chobanian, age 83, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Eden Meadows Rehabilitation Suites in Oshkosh.
Nazaly was born November 16, 1932, in Racine, WI, the daughter of Arsen and Sophie (Salbashian) Andekian. On June 21, 1958, she married Peter Chobanian in Racine. A loving mother and grandmother, Nazaly was devoted to children. She was an elementary teacher for three years in Madison, then a substitute teacher in Ripon for 30 years. Nazaly led story time at the public library in the 70s, was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, as well as a Sunday school teacher at the United Methodist Church in Ripon. In addition to her love for children, Nazaly was an avid gardener, always making the world around her more beautiful.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Peter; son, Michael (Mariam); daughter, Elizabeth (Brett); grandchildren, Grigor, Jake, Alivia and Nicholas; sisters, Tarquin and Gloria; brother, Sarkis and many extended family members. Nazaly was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Alexia; brother, Minas and sisters, Elizabeth and Mary.
Funeral Service for Nazaly will be held on Thursday, February, 25, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 217 Houston St., Ripon, WI 54971. Father Marcus Cunningham will officiate. Interment will follow at Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, Il 60707.
