Nancy K. Hill

Nancy Kathryn (Fordham) Hill died on May 16, 2026. She was born May 24, 1947 to Lucille M. (Bednarek) Fordham and Deane H. Fordham. Byron Hill and Nancy married in 1967.

Nancy was an intelligent, passionate, and loving person. She spent her time caring for her family and home, supporting the community, and pursuing personal endeavors. She was a lifelong learner and eager to explore diverse interests. Whip-smart intelligence, creativity, clever humor, and quick wit were well developed.

In 1965, she graduated as valedictorian from Green Lake High School and in 1994 summa cum laude from University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.

Nancy’s community work was vast. She served on the Green Lake Caestecker Library Board for many years, a term including the construction of two new libraries. She was the executive director of the Green Lake Association and focused on building partnerships with county organizations and the WI Department of Natural Resources. She served on the board of Thrasher Opera House, and with the Green Lake Sanitary District, Green Lake Board of Adjustment, and Green Lake Rotary.

Her list of personal interests and pursuits included cross country skiing, running, biking, windsurfing, photography, international travel, family ancestry, and more. She enjoyed the humanities. She was an avid reader and an exceptional writer. In recent years after her kidney transplant, she immersed herself in ceramic arts.

Nancy and her family are forever grateful to her kidney donor, whose tremendous gift immeasurably improved Nancy’s life.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Byron Hill, dogs Buddy and Sparky of Green Lake; sisters Mary (Dave) Ball and Sally (Larry) Ehrenberg, both of Green Lake.

Child Matthew G. Hill (Carol Altman) of Ames, Iowa and grandchildren Eva (Daniel) Leland, Hazen (Anna Nguyen) and Caleb Hill, and Kaitlyn, Abigail, Grace, Eleanor, and Camille Cox.

Child Kristin K. Hill (Sanjay Deshpande) of Milwaukee. Grandchildren Nikita (Jeff) Leiter, David and Maya Deshpande. Great-grandchildren Nadia, Kali, Adriana, and Zain Leiter.

Brothers-in-law Alvin Hill (Nancy Guiliano) of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, and Daniel (Frances) Hill of Green Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers David and Bill Fordham and Bill’s wife Carol Beuthin; sister Betty Gamm and her husband Lloyd Gamm; and sister-in-law Karen Hill.

If you choose to make a donation in Nancy’s name, her favorite organizations were Thrasher Opera House and Green Lake Conservancy.

A graveside service will be held at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., followed by a reception at Byron and Nancy’s home.
