Myrtle Munsey

Myrtle Marie (Lyons) Munsey, age 88, of Green Lake, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2006, in Berlin, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Myrtle was born on February 25, 1918, in Major, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Leo and Florence (Jacobsen) Lyons. In 1922, her family moved to Mole Lake, WI, where she graduated from Crandon High School. Myrtle married Edward Munsey in Mole Lake on October 27, 1945. Myrt and Ed celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 27, 1995 in Green Lake, where they spent most of their lives with their children, Frances Marie and William Edward. Myrt was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Willis Chapel Unit 306 for over 50 years and was a charter member of the Federated Church of Green Lake. Myrt always had a huge garden and enjoyed caring for her many plants and vegetables. She also enjoyed playing cards, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Braves and the Packers play, and spending time with her family and friends.

Myrtle is survived by one son, William (Kathy) Munsey of Green Lake; grandchildren, Amanda and Nathan Munsey, David Longsine of Neenah, Ken (Linda) Longsine of Green Lake and Brian (Roberta) Munsey of Kidron, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Scottie, Tabitha, Kenny, Kayla and Xavier. She is further survived by a sister, Evelyn Reichert of Milwaukee, brother, Ken Lyons of Crandon, WI, sisters-in-law, Jane Lyons of Crandon, Lola Taylor of Milwaukee, Barb (John) Vickerman of Florida and Barb Paul of Markesan, brothers-in-law, Clifford Munsey and Tom (Sheryl) Munsey both of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, daughter, Frances, sisters, Josephine and Joyce, brothers, Ted and Bill, brothers-in-law, Harold Reichert and Ronald Munsey and a sister-in-law, Verna Lyons.

Visitation for Myrtle Munsey will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, and again on Saturday, July 8, 2006, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Federated Church in Green Lake.

Funeral Service for Myrtle Munsey will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Federated Church in Green Lake. Interment will be held in Dartford Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Midwest Div, 3311 S. Packerland Dr, De Pere, WI, 54115.
