It is with both regret and happiness that we learn of the passing of Muriel H. Diedrich, age 91, of Ripon, on January 11, 2005, at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan. Regret in that all of her close friends and relatives will miss her terribly; happiness in knowing she is now reunited with her blessed husband, Harry, who she has missed every day since his death, at age 33, on December 7, 1977.
She was born February 26, 1913, in Ripon, the daughter of Robert & Molly (Sanders) Gatzke, and the sister of Mildred Shaw Eckert and lrmgard Hunold Marshall, all of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Ripon High School and attended Ripon College. Muriel married Harry Diedrich in 1939 after a lengthy courtship which began when Muriel was only 5 years old. In 1943, their only child, Rick was born. He continues to live in Ripon. Muriat spent her life as both a loving wife and mother, and being an integral part of the operation and success of Diedrich Jewelry Company.
Muriel is survived by her son, Rick of Ripon; 2 granddaughters, Devon Diedrich of Princeton, Wl and Heidi Diedrich of Scottsdale, AZ; 1 grandson, Christopher "C.J." Diedrich of Osbkosh, WI; 5 nephews, Jack Shaw of Riverside, CA, Bob Hunold of Las Vegas, NV, Charles Marshall of Las Vegas, NV, Gary Eckert of Salt Lake City, UT and John Diedrich of Ripon, WE; and 1 niece, Carol Cooley of Decatur, IL.
Funeral service for Muriel H. Diedrich will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2005, at Butzin~Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Rev. Mark R. West officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon.
