Michael “Mike” Bruce Luedke, age 72, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at his home with family by his side.
Mike was born October 23, 1947, in Ripon, WI, the son of Raymond “Pete” and Mildred Ida (Berger) Luedke. On September 23, 1972, Mike married Kathleen Wepner at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. He started his employment with Ripon Coop, who merged with Grand River Coop in Markesan and finally merged with Landmark Coop in Markesan. Mike drove truck, delivered fuel and installed LP tanks until his retirement in 2010. He was an active member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ and also a very active life time member of the Ripon FFA Alumni. Mike was an avid fisherman and hunter and he also loved to golf, bowl and trap shooting in Berlin at the Berlin Conservation Club. His most favorite hobby was drag racing the quarter mile at Kaukauna, Union Grove and Rockford with the rebuilt Camaro that was his wife’s car. He loved attending the National Drag Races with his friends and the Chicagoland Drag Races with his niece, Kari. Mike’s most favorite thing was the restoration of the ’67 Corvette he purchased.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Luedke of 47 years of Ripon, WI; son, Peter (Danette) Luedke of Ripon, WI; daughter, Melissa (Philip) Busse of Green Lake, WI; granddaughter, Anna Luedke of Ripon, WI; grandson, Philip Busse of Green Lake, WI; two brothers, David (Carla) Luedke of Princeton, WI and Duane (Nancy) Luedke of Fond du Lac, WI; three sisters, Donna (Jack) Yearwood of Fisk, WI, Carol (Ronald) Bayer of Green Lake, WI and Nancy (James) Henning of Ripon, WI; two brothers-in-law, Thomas (Jane) Wepner of North Fond du Lac, WI and Gregory Wepner of California; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Meaney of Pembine, WI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond “Pete” and Mildred “Millie” Luedke; father and mother-in-law, William “Bill” and Marie Wepner and brother-in-law, Paul (Pat) Meaney.
Visitation for Mike will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Saturday, November 16, 2019, from 10 – 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Memorial Service for Mike will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon with Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell officiating. Inurnment will take place at Green Lake Center Cemetery in the Town of Green Lake. Memorials in Mike's name may be directed to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or Our Saviour's United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
