Michael E. Campbell

Michael Campbell of Cave Creek, AZ passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024, after a four-year battle with cancer. He was born on November 6, 1941, in Ripon, WI to parents Alban and Rachel Campbell.

Michael attended school in Ripon and was involved in many different sports. He excelled in Cross Country and held state records for many years. He enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and served on the USS Ranger during the Vietnam war. He graduated from St. Norbert College in DePere, WI with a degree in Economics and Marketing.

Michael married Mary Pat Sturm at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam, WI in 1971. They lived in Ripon, WI, Green Bay, WI, and Arlington Heights, IL before finally moving to Cave Creek, AZ. He was an avid golfer and spent many fun filled hours on the links with Mary Pat and his many golfing buddies.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patricia (Seidl), Mary Lois (Kuehn), Rachel (Espinosa); brothers, Gerald and John (Chet).

He is survived by his wife Mary Pat; children, Tricia Campbell, Brooke (Hjelm); son-in-law Scott; grandsons, Connor and Samuel; sisters, Bernadette Weiske, Catherine Treptow and Constance Marabella; a brother, William Campbell; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Michael will be remembered by his family and friends for his wonderful sense of humor, writing of poems for special occasions and his kindness to all he met.

Visitation for Michael will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 am on Friday, February 9, 2024, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 E. Blossom St., Ripon, WI, 54971.

Funeral Mass for Michael will be held at 11:00 am immediately following visitation, with Fr. Jim Leary, OFM Cap officiating. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s name to either Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014, or to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 E. Blossom St., Ripon, WI, 54971.

A private inurnment will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:00 am, at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon.
