Merle "Mert" L. Good

Merle “Mert” Louise (Nimmer) Good, age 96, was called home on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Tower View Assisted Living in Rosendale, WI, surrounded by her family.

Merle was born on September 20, 1929, in Ripon, WI, daughter of Dewey and Laura (Albright) Nimmer. She graduated from Ripon High School in 1947. On August 19, 1950, she married Duane “P-Nuts” Sayler. Duane preceded her in death in 1973. Merle was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Good on May 24, 1975. She was a member of the First Congregational church of Ripon.

Merle was a leader in her time, working at Fabrico for 47 years, ending her career as Vice President of Finance. She was very active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, holding offices at the local and state level. In 1977, she was installed as the State President for the Auxiliary. She was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Eagles Auxiliary at the local and state levels as well. She served on the Board of Directors for Golden Rule Credit Union for many years and also served as the clerk for the Town of Green Lake for a few years. She had many interests; helping organize class reunions, going to the Packers and Milwaukee Brewers games, investment club, bowling, etc. She was passionate about being with friends and her lake life.

She is survived by her daughter, Terri (Todd) Brueggeman; stepchildren, Charles (Jean) Good, Tammy Chier, Tim Good, and Chris (Randy) Hess; grandchildren, Carrie (Troy) Maser, Kelly (Bradley) Buckingham-Zuege, Stephanie (Matthew) Good, Kristin (Branden) Mike, Eric (Mel) Chier, Andrea (Brandon) Chier, Austin (Liz) Good, Tanner Good, Miranda (Ed) Merchant, Megan (Stephanie) Hess; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Jane Good. She is further survived by special family and friends, Patti (Doug) Schrader, David and Phillip Page, Maureen (Ron) Thayer, Ken (Leng) Sayler, Tom Sayler, Donna Sayler, Kim (Gregg) Patrick, Boni Jensen, the Bonsen family, and all extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Good and Duane Sayler; sisters, Joyce (Alan) Bonsen and Evie (Homer) Page; brother-in-law, Robert (Nancy) Good; son-in-law, Gary Zuege; and niece, Denise McCauley.

A special thank you to Kim and her staff at Towerview Assisted Living in Rosendale, as well as St. Croix Hospice, and special friend, Marilyn, for their care and compassion over the past couple years.

Visitation for Merle will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the Eagle’s Club, 515 N Park Ave., Fond du Lac, WI 54935. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm, followed by a time of food and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, any donations will be dispersed among her favorite charities.
