Mary Ellen Grahn, age 88, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020, surrounded by family.
Mary Ellen was born April 22, 1932 in Waupun, WI, the daughter of Steven and Ann (Vande Kolk) Vande Brink. She married Reuben James Grahn on August 16, 1952 at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. Mary Ellen was a hard-working housewife, gardener and mother to 6 children. Mary Ellen was a member of many organizations including Merry Friends Circle of Immanuel United Methodist Church and a church choir member for many years. She also served as leader for 3 Hilloppers, 4-H and a Cub Scout leader for Pack 35.
Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Allen (Mary) Grahn, Barbara Tress, Craig (Tammie) Grahn, Dale (Kathy) Grahn, Valerie (John) De Marlie, and Kevin Grahn; grandchildren, Amy (Jeff) Hendricks, Shane (Elijah) Grahn, Cassie (John) Stone, Donavan (Jill) Grahn, Heidi (Jason) Gilliland, Julie (Noam) Littman, Troy (Karla) Grahn, Jessica (Mark) Horner, Kaycee (Tim) Grahn, Jessica Johnson, Emily (Logan) Trautman, Chelsea Grahn, Cheyenne Grahn, Stephanie (Ken) Tress, Tim (Katy) Tress, Cameron De Marlie, Nicole Grahn and Joshua De Marlie; several great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin (Marion), Steve (Barbara) and Joe Vande Brink; sisters, Sharon (Daniel) Sina and Diane (Terry) Sauerbrei; brothers-in-law, Arden Patchett and Aubrey (Mary) Grahn; sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Dean) Berglund, Gloria Grahn and Barbara Grahn; many nieces and nephews; dear friend, Janie Brown and many other good friends. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Ann Vande Brink; husband, Reuben Grahn (February 23, 1998); sisters, Alice Briskie, Donna Brewer and Jean Ann Patchett; brothers, Donald, Richard and Robert Vande Brink; one granddaughter, Jenny De Marlie; and son-in-law, Greg Tress.
A graveside service for Mary Ellen will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Bluffton Cemetery, Town of Brooklyn, WI, with Rev. Harsha K. Kotian officiating. A celebration of life will be held for Mary Ellen at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.
