Martha H. Parfitt, age 98, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Michalene’s in Ripon.
Martha was born on August 9, 1914, in Ripon, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Becker) Parfitt. She attended Ripon schools, graduating at 16 years old as valedictorian of her class. Martha attended Oshkosh Business College and worked for a short time at Fond du Lac Court House. On the death of her father, she returned home to work until her mother’s passing. Martha’s sister Bernice, returned home and worked with her in the family owned photography studio that her parents began in 1913, which Martha later took over. She was active in various organizations over the years. Martha was a member and president of the Ripon Philatelic Society, American Association of Retired Persons, Ripon Business and Professional Society and of the American Legion Auxillary. She was also an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Friends of the Library and the Ripon Historical Society.
She is survived by one sister, Bernice Parfitt of Ripon, WI and nieces and nephews. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters-in-law.
Per Martha’s wishes, there will be a private family service. Interment will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon.
