Marion Lucille Mary Lou Williams, age 88, formerly of Ripon, WI and the last 9 years at All About Life Rehabilitation Center in Fond du Lac, WI, passed away in her sleep Monday, February 1, 2016.
She was born on June 15, 1927 to Wynne Bazeley and Lucille Pricilla Williams of Ripon.
Marion graduated from Ripon High School in 1944, and worked at Speed Queen as a young woman. She was passionate about reading on any subject, loved watching the Green Bay Packers play, enjoyed cooking and baking, and is remembered by her granddaughters for her ability to correctly answer almost every question on Jeopardy. She enjoyed attending church services at St. Peters Episcopal Church and visiting with Father Brown, as well as visiting with the Sisters of the Holy Nativity, Bethlehem by the Lake who lived down the road from her for many years.
Marion is survived by her brother, David Wynne Williams; three granddaughters, Michelle Lee Grothe of Ripon, Almeda Ann Christensen (nee Gloyd) of Baltimore, and Catherine Irene Grothe of Madison; two great-granddaughters, Katherine Irene and Alanna Erin Christensen; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews and her son, Robert Benjamin Gloyd. She was preceded in death by both her parents; her son, Timothy P. Williams and her daughter, Mary Catherine Grothe (nee Gloyd); one granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Grothe; and two ex-husbands, Charles Gloyd and Benjamin Hathaway.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 217 Houston St., Ripon, WI 54971 with Father Marcus Cunningham officiating. Inurnment will follow at Green Lake Center Cemetery, Town of Green Lake. Memorials may be directed to the Ripon Public Library, 120 Jefferson St., Ripon, WI 54971.
