Marie Veleke

Marie “Mickey” Irene Veleke, age 83, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Whispering Pines in Ripon after a battle with diabetes and Alzheimer's.

Mickey was born on June 11, 1938, in Fond du Lac, WI, the daughter of Emil and Irene Kottke. She married Paul Veleke on June 16, 1962. Mickey worked in primary education all of her life. She was the lead teacher at Grace Lutheran Pre-School in Ripon for 24 years. Mickey was passionate with her work as a teacher and took great pride in helping and teaching the children. She was a devoted member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years.

Mickey is survived by her husband, Paul Veleke of Ripon, WI; children, Daniel (Barbara) Veleke of Dadeville, AL and Renee (Joe) Wallstead of Cleveland, WI; three grandchildren, Allison (fiancé, Jacob Tarnowski) Wallstead, Grace Wallstead, and Landon Veleke; two sisters, Cirena Lenz of Fairwater, WI and Fern Rathsack of Fredonia, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Irene Kottke; a sister, Audrey; and a brother, Keith.

Visitation for Mickey will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 430 Griswold St., Ripon, WI, 54971.

Funeral service for Mickey will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon, with Rev. Clay R. Salmela officiating. The church asks that social distancing be followed and masks are optional if you are vaccinated. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon, WI. Memorials in her name may be directed Grace Pre-School and/or Grace Lutheran Church, 430 Griswold St., Ripon, WI, 54971.
