Marianne Stasek

October 31, 1936 — May 26, 2023

Marianne “Mary” Stasek, age 86, of Green Lake, WI, died peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Christian Homestead in Waupun, WI, after a lingering illness.

Mary was born on October 31, 1936, in Rib Lake, WI, daughter of Bernard and Pearl (Bielecki) Frenzel. She was the fourth of seven children. When Mary was in third grade the family moved to Marshfield and she continued her education there. Mary graduated from Marshfield High School. After graduating, Mary joined a religious community in St. Louis for nine years. She left the community and attended St. Louis University and received her degree as a radiologic technician. She worked in St. Louis and then in Burlington, WI. Most of her career was spent at Milwaukee County/Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

In 1975 she married Gilbert “Gil” Stasek. They resided in the Milwaukee area until retirement when they moved to Green Lake. Mary was a devoted and active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. She served as a liturgical minister sharing her time and gifts with others. She spent over twenty years visiting the sick and homebound, started and facilitated the church’s prayer line and was an active member of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW). Mary served as local and regional president as well as spending multiple years on the Board of the Madison Diocesan CCW. She attended over twenty National Council of Catholic Women conventions including a trip to the Vatican. Mary also had the privilege of making four trips to Panama to work with Fr. Wally on his water projects. Mary’s faith, love of God, and prayer have always been a very important part of her life.

She is survived by her brother, Wendelin (David) Frenzel of McLean, VA; sisters-in-law, Barbara Frenzel of Colorado Springs, CO, Norma Stasek Winter of Antigo, WI, and Marvaleen Stasek of Rothschild, WI; brothers-in-law, Jerome (Linda) Pitts and Robert Ziegert along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Pearl Frenzel; husband, Gilbert Stasek; brothers, Carroll and Daniel (Jeanne) Frenzel; and sisters, Linnea Florine and Jean Frenzel McHugh.

During her nearly two years of illness, she was grateful for the assistance of her friends, Karla and Barb, the care she received at Villa Rosa, extraordinary care she received at the Christian Homestead including the Hospice staff who helped through her final days.
