Margaret Schieler

June 10, 1932 — June 26, 2020

On June 26, 2020, Margaret Elizabeth Jess Schieler (“Peg”) joined her husband Calvin, her infant son David, her parents Fred and Marguerite Jess Sr., and her brother Fred Jess Jr. in heaven, after 88 years of a wonder-filled life. Peg entrusted keeping her fun-loving memories alive to her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children Susan (Cliff) Boucher, Steven (Kim) Schieler and Shane (Tammy) Schieler; grandchildren Calli (Paul) Ivester, Drew Boucher, Liz Schieler, David (Dylan) Schieler, Jessica (Mark) Gilmour and Jason (Amanda) Schieler; and great-grandchildren Taylor and Brayden Gilmour; Cameron Schieler and Matthew Ivester.

From an early age in Ripon, Wisconsin, Peg was filled with curiosity and desire to learn about everything the world had to offer. Little did she know that her marriage to Calvin Schieler in 1955 would provide her the perfect launching pad for those desires. With Cal's job keeping him on the road for five out of seven days, Peg busied herself with making homes for their young family in four different states: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Georgia. Each move meant opportunities to explore new landscapes and cultures, while developing far-ranging interests in each of her children. When Cal finally got a break from his travels for work, Peg was not about to let him simply sit home. They were off on vacations that eventually took their young family to Canada, Mexico, and every U.S. state except four.

Her quirky imagination, creativity, and zest for life was apparent every day. One minute you would find her crawling on her belly playing soldier with her sons, and the next planning a crazy themed party for Cal's business associates, or her own children. Peg did not slow down as a grandmother either. One Halloween, she flew to visit her first grandchild disembarking from the plane dressed as a witch, complete with a twig broom and a cackle.

After Cal retired from Speed Queen and Peg left her position as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Ripon Public Schools their lives got even more exciting. They moved to Green Valley, Arizona, enjoying the beautiful mountain views from their patio and basking in sunshine. There Peg spent many years planning her action-packed minute-by-minute excursions to the rest of the U.S., most of Europe, Lithuania, Thailand, India, Egypt, Acapulco, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama, and Malaysia. Even in her last few years in Maryland with her daughter's family, she had them pushing her wheelchair to places a wheelchair should never go.

Visitation for Peg will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 10 - 11:00 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
