Louise M. Velie, age 78, of Ripon, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI.
Louise was born on January 16, 1931, in Laona, WI, the daughter of Arnold and Ruth (Burk) Prellwitz. She graduated from Ripon High School and went on to Moraine Park Technical Institute receiving her degree in data processing. Louise than worked for the State of Wisconsin at the Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun. She was also a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ and of Pilgrim Rebekah Lodge #195.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda L. Moreland (Gary Liefke) of Ripon and Norma (Mike) Heiden of Ripon; one son, Christian A. Velie of Waupun; 10 grandchildren, Shane Grahn of Dallas, TX, Matthew Liefke of Ripon, Christopher Velie of Waupun, Charlie (Donna) Bentley of Hawkins, WI, Lana (Rick) Webster of Tomahawk, WI, Roger (Michelle) Velie of Ripon, Amy Perrin, Jennifer (Henry) Mancebo of Fond du Lac, Amber Heiden of Ripon, and Eric (Katie) Heiden of Ripon; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann (Dale) Kautzer of Ripon; one sister-in-law Sidney Prellwitz of Cudahy, WI, and many nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, two brothers, Arnold Jr. and Norman Prellwitz, and her step-mother Margaret (Lambert) Prellwitz.
Visitation for Louise Velie will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, from 9 – 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Funeral Service for Louise Velie will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Mark R. West will be officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial has been established in her name.
Louise was friendly, kind, and unselfish. She was always giving and never asked for much in return and she will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
