Lorraine Wetzel

Lorraine Dorthy Wetzel, age 95, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at her home.
Lorraine was born March 31, 1925, the daughter of farmers Alex and Olga (Krueger) Schure. She went to the one room Holmes School through the 8th grade, where she was a Fond du Lac County Spelling Champion. After graduating from Ripon High School in 1943, Lorraine married Aldon Wetzel on September 21, 1946. Together, Aldon and Lorraine ran their farm, and Lorraine raised chickens, washed the milkers, and tended to her large garden. She was very involved with Immanuel United Methodist Church, where she was an active member and Sunday School Teacher. She also really liked to sing and sang in the church choir.
Survivors include her son, Gary Wetzel of Ripon; daughter, Mary Wetzel of Waukesha, WI; sister-in-law, Gerry Schure; nephew, Jon (Danielle) Schure; and niece, Amy (Mike) Dunbar. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Olga Schure; a stillborn daughter; husband, Aldon Wetzel; and brother, Marvin Schure.
A visitation for Lorraine will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.
A funeral service for Lorraine will be held at the church, with distancing, on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Harsha K. Kotian officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, City of Ripon, WI. Memorials in Lorraine’s name may be directed to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.
