Lois Mockridge

Lois T. Mockridge, age 94, of Ripon, WI passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Prairie Place in Ripon.
Lois was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on December 18, 1925, the daughter of Louis and Charlotte (Mortensen) Thern. She graduated from A.B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon and married Paul Mockridge in 1943. Lois worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, but her passion was painting. Her specialty was watercolors, and studied under Reginald Marsh at the Art Students League in New York City. Although Lois never attended college, she read all of Shakespeare's plays and a lot of critical scholarship about his work. She also enjoyed reading poetry and historical fiction.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Diane (Mark Lindquist) Mockridge and Marcia (Scott) Jackson, both of Ripon, WI; and her two grandchildren who meant so much to her, William Lindquist of Ripon, WI and Samantha Lindquist of Oshkosh, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Charlotte Thern; her son, William Mockridge; and her sister, Titia Serge.
A Celebration of Life for Lois will be held at a later date. Memorials in her name may be directed to the Art Students League of New York City, 215 W. 57th St., New York, NY 10019.
