Lois Jeanette Ellis, age 91, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Prairie Place.
Lois was born September 23, 1929 in Rock County, WI, the daughter of Vernon Leslie and Ruth (Miles) Giles. She married Arthur Ellis in Evansville, WI on August 4, 1951. Lois taught in the Green Lake School District as an elementary school teacher for 20 years. She was a very active and involved member of First Congregational Church of Ripon, a member of the League of Women Voters, and a dedicated volunteer at the Paine Art Center and the Caestecker Public Library.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Ellis of Incline Village, NV, Diane (Frederick Whitrock) Ellis of Baton Rouge, LA and Nancy (Michael) Barr of Canal Winchester, OH; grandchildren, Allison (Eric) Barr Allen of San Francisco, CA, Ethan Barr of Boston, MA, Julia (Nick) Selby of Mandeville, LA, Robert Whitrock of Houston, TX, and Jon Herbert of Honolulu, HI; great-granddaughters, Adeline and Elise Selby of Mandeville, LA; and sister-in-law, Rita Giles of Jefferson, WI. Lois is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ruth Giles; husband, Arthur Ellis; daughter, Julie Ellis Rezin; four siblings; and son-in-law, James Herbert.
A memorial service for Lois will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 am at First Congregational Church of Ripon, 220 Ransom Street, Ripon, WI, 54971 with Rev. Jeffrey A. Dodson officiating. A private inurnment will take place. Memorials in Lois’ name may be made to the Caestecker Public Library, P.O. Box 278, 518 Hill Street, Green Lake, WI 54941.
