Linda Jean (Ronning) Schimmel, age 73, of Fond du Lac, WI, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.
Linda was born on September 7, 1948 in Fond du Lac, daughter of Emil and Marilyn (Kunick) Ronning. She graduated from Goodrich High School in 1966 and started working at Giddings and Lewis in the I.T. department, and this is where she met her soul mate and the love of her life, Greg Schimmel. They were married on August 7, 1971. Linda was a lifelong member of the Church of Peace United Church of Christ in Fond du Lac. She enjoyed spending time with family members and fishing with her husband, Greg.
Those that are sadly left behind: her husband, Greg Schimmel; son, Scott and his partner, Mona; granddaughter, Samantha; father, Emil Ronning; a sister, Mary (Mike) Feiereisen; sisters-in-law, Jayne (David) Moodie and Patty Ronning; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Ronning; a brother, Tom Ronning; and a sister, Barb Ronning.
A private family memorial service will be held at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with Rev. Stephen Stepp officiating. Inurnment will take place at Fairwater Cemetery, Fairwater, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association, 16655 W. Bluemound Rd, Suite 330, Brookfield, WI 53005, or by visiting WIParkinson.org/Donate/
