Lester Vossekuil, age 81, of Ripon, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Ripon Medical Center in Ripon.
Lester was born in Waupun, WI, on October 11, 1929, the son of John and Clara (Dorrestyn) Vossekuil. He attended rural Waupun School, and served his country in the Korean War in the U. S. Army. On April 16, 1955, Lester married Delores Schwandt in Ripon. Lester was an electrician and owned Vossekuil Electric. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater and served on numerous boards at the church. Lesters grandchildren were very special to him. He was always ready to help or fix something for anyone. He loved playing cards, dancing and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Vossekuil of Ripon, one son, Darrell (Lisa) Vossekuil of Ripon; two daughters, Peggy (Al) Klapperich of Ripon and Rhonda (Darren) Huff of Pickett; four grandchildren, Ellen Vossekuil, Michael Vossekuil, Jackie Huff and Mitchel Huff; brothers, Richard Vossekuil of CA, Leroy Vossekuil of Waupun, WI, Wayne (Kaye) Vossekuil of Castro Valley, CA, Ruben Vossekuil of Arnold, CA, Orin (Joyce) Vossekuil of Waupun, WI and Ken Vossekuil of Chicago, IL; sisters, Sharon (Bill) Kwakkel of Ripon, WI, Paulette Sauerbrei of Waupun, WI and Marilyn (John) VanderSanden of Waupun, WI, and many nieces and nephews. Lester was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marlene Emerson, and Sylvia Holl and in-laws, Walter and Nora Schwandt.
Visitation for Lester Vossekuil will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010, from 4-7:00 pm, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI and again on Friday, December 31, 2010, from 10-11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church Street, Fairwater, WI.
Memorial Service for Lester Vossekuil will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater with full military honors following the service. Reverend Stuart Dornfeld will officiate. Per Lesters wishes, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow at Fairwater Cemetery in the Village of Fairwater at a later date. A memorial is being established.
