Laverne Kenas

July 5, 1923 — February 16, 2017

Laverne E. Kenas, age 93, of Ripon, WI, left this world on the 16th day of February 2017. She is now celebrating a reunion with her husband, Robert; and sons, Tom and Philip.

Laverne was born in Ripon on July 5, 1923, the daughter of Ed and Hattie Witt-Meyer. She graduated from Ripon High School and went on to Fond du Lac Business School. On September 3, 1943.she married Robert Kenas in Ripon, WI. Laverne worked at Speed Queen after graduating business school and then farmed with her husband in the Rosendale area until moving to Ripon. She loved working in her flower, fruit and vegetable gardens which was a sight to behold. Laverne and Bob were also active in the Laconia High School AFS Program hosting students and enjoyed learning about other cultures She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist church in Ripon were she taught Sunday School, Bethel Bible Study Series, was a Youth Counselor and active with other various ministries. She was very strong supporter of Youth for Christ.

Laverne is survived by 6 children: Rev. Robert (Donna) Kenas, Jr of Whitewater, WI, James (Kathy) Kenas of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Kathleen Brea of Tempe, AZ, Chuck (Carla) Kenas of Eldorado, WI, Mark (special friend Sam) Kenas of Madison, WI, and Paul (Cindy) Kenas of Portage, WI; 16 grandchildren, Kim (Dean) Buchholz of Jefferson, WI, Kurt (Mary) Kenas of Sullivan, WI, Danielle (Randy) DeCarlo of Houston, TX, Ben (Iris) Beauchaine of Kissimmee, FL, John (Olivia) Beauchaine of Tempe, AZ, Mireille (Jerry) Reece of Bremerton, WA, Justin (Kim) Kenas of Wichita, KS, Joshua Kenas of Williston, ND, Annalisa (Darin) Luker of Helena, MT, Jeff (Michelle) Kenas of Waunakee, WI, Nicole (Richard) Wiese of Fond du Lac, WI, Angela (Joel) Prochazka of Sussex, WI, Carl Kenas of Gilbert AZ, Eric (Victoria) Kenas of Scottsdale, AZ, Sarah (Shawn) Skiles of Mauston, WI, Greg (Angie) Kenas of Lake Mills, WI; step-granddaughter, Pam of OK, 33 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Barbara Kenas of Sun Prairie, WI; a sister, Minerva (Sam) Batt of Columbus, WI and a brother, Art (Barbara) Meyer of Ripon, WI;, Many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her sons, Thomas and Rev. Philip Kenas; a sister and brother in law, Evelyn and Ray Brasch, and other brothers and sisters-in-law.

A visitation for Laverne will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI, 54971.

A funeral service for Laverne will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, with Reverend Michael Morning and Reverend Robert Kenas Jr. officiating. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. at Rosendale Cemetery on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Memorial may be directed to United Methodist Youth, Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
