Kurt L. Schwandt, age 46, of Ripon, WI, passed away on October 16, 2017, at home with his family by his side.
Kurt was born on September 16, 1971, in Ripon, the son of Lester and Doris (Petig) Schwandt. He graduated from Ripon High School. In 1998 he married Lisa Clewien in Princeton, WI. Kurt was employed at Ripon Printers as a press operator. He was a member of the Turkey Federation, and was a guide for the Ripon High School Outdoors Club. His passions were hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed time in the dirt perfecting his food plot. He also loved to watch cooking shows that inspired him to be creative with his cooking. He would make pickled fish and smoked fish (and share them generously with others) and experimented with spices. Kurt also loved playing cards, especially Rummy.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Lisa of Ripon; two daughters, Gabby and Andi Schwandt; his mother, Doris Schwandt of Ripon; a brother, Kelly (Terri) Schwandt of Ripon; a sister, Kerry (Dennis) Respalje of Brandon, WI; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Clewien; sisters-in-law, Laurie (Russ) Vesely of Marathon, WI; Janet (Dennis) Peoples of Ripon; Beth (Leland) Schultz of Montello, WI, Becky (friend Larry) Lang of Markesan, WI, and Stacey (Corey) Schwandt of Fairwater, WI; brothers-in-law, Rick (Karen) Clewien of Princeton and Bill (Nancy) Clewien of Berlin, WI; aunts, Carol Plagenz and Barbara Schwandt; uncle, Leon (Linda) Petig; his niece, Katie Schwandt; his nephews, Matt (Jen) Schwandt and Cory (Liz) Respalje; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews on his wife's side; and many close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Schwandt; paternal grandparents, Lester, Sr. and Ruby Schwandt; maternal grandparents, Charles and Anna Petig; uncles, Gerald Schwandt and Walter Plagenz; and father-in-law, Arnold Clewien.
A visitation for Kurt will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI, 54971, and again on Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Our Saviour's United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI, 54971.
A funeral service for Kurt will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Our Saviour's United Church of Christ, with Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial in Kurt's name is being established.
