Joyce M. Peterson, age 80, of Neshkoro, WI, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation in Fond du Lac, WI.
Joyce was born on March 19, 1938 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Eggers) Brockway. She graduated from Westfield High School and went on to graduate from Moraine Park Technical College where she earned degrees as a Licensed Practical Nurse and a Registered Nurse. On January 31, 1959 she married Fred Peterson in Neshkoro. They moved to Waupun, WI where they resided until 2006 when they moved to Neshkoro. Joyce worked as a nurse at Waupun Memorial Hospital and the Christian Home & Rehabilitation Center in Waupun, Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau, WI as well as the Central WI Center in Madison, WI and the Department of Corrections in Waupun, WI. She also drove school bus for Edmunds Bus Service in Waupun. Joyce was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waupun and former member and council member of Annunciation Parish in Fox Lake. WI.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 59 years, Fred Peterson of Neshkoro, WI; her four children, Bob (Jean) Peterson of Green Lake, WI, Kathy (Chuck) Schlieve of Waupun, WI, Patty (Ted) Swanson of Hartland, WI, and David (Tracy) Peterson of Waupun, WI; six grandchildren, Joshua Dean, Samantha Schlieve, Meagan Swanson, William Swanson, Shelby Peterson, Colby Peterson; one great-grandchild, June Schultz; one brother, Ralph “Sonny” Brockway of Neshkoro, WI; four sisters, Yvonne “Pan” Walsh of Eden, WI, Sylvia Schultz of Lomira, WI, Barbara (Dennis) Koats of Neshkoro, WI, and Alice (Duane) King of Ripon, WI; a brother-in-law, Tom Peterson of Neshkoro, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Margaret Brockway; brother-in-law, Clayton Schultz; sister-in-law, Ellen Brockway; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Mae Peterson.
A visitation for Joyce will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, 54971.
A Memorial Service for Joyce will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with Pastor Jamie Thompson officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Berlin, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 620 South 76th St., Milwaukee, WI 53214 or the Agnesian Healthcare Foundation, 430 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A scholarship is being established at Moraine Park Technical College in Joyce's name to support the educational needs of future nurses. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation and the Agnesian Hospice team for their care and support of Joyce.
