Joseph “Joe” William Bastien, age 46, of Westfield, WI, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at his home with family by his side.
Joe was born January 13, 1972, in Oaklawn, IL, the son of Norman Joseph and Rosemarie (Cox) Bastien, Jr. He married Michelle Bateman in 1996, in Chicago, IL. Joe worked as a security officer. He earned his mortuary technician certificate and worked as an apprentice for Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home. Joe also owned a funeral coach service. He was a member of Good Sheppard Catholic Church in Westfield, WI.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Bastien of Westfield, WI; two daughters, Gianna and Angeline both at home; one sister, Theresa (Darrin) Oldham of St. John, IN; four nephews, Bryan (Shirley) Oldham, Randy (Sarah) Oldham, Michael Oldham and Nicolas Oldham all of St. John, IN and mother-in-law, Mary Lakinger of Westfield, WI. Joe is further survived by great nephews, a great niece and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Rosemarie Bastien and father-in-law, Joseph Lakinger.
Visitation for Joseph will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 3 – 9:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 11 – 12:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 277 E. Montello St., Montello, WI 53949.
Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at 12:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Savio Yerasani officiating. Cremation will follow. A memorial is being established.
