John J. Murphy, Jr.

John J. Murphy, Jr. “Smurf”, age 60, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 28, 2026 at his home.

John was born on August 20, 1966 in Fond du Lac, WI, son of John, Sr. and Joleen (Treptow) Murphy. He graduated from Marine Park Technical College in 1989. Shortly after graduation, John started working at Quents in Oshkosh where he proudly worked as the head mechanic until his death. John loved spending his free time with his family, especially his three granddaughters, and taking his weekly Sunday naps. There wasn’t a thing that John couldn’t fix or a person he wouldn’t help.

John survived by his daughter, Kelsey (Rory) Gile; granddaughters, Brynley, Lyla, and Shay; mother, Joleen; siblings, Gerrilynn (Rolly) Peabody, Mike (Patty) Murphy, and Pat (Trixie) Murphy; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Remy.

He was proceeded in death by his father, John Murphy Sr.; his father-in-law, Ernie Gloyd; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation for John will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 9:30 until 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 E.
