John Frederick McCulloch, age 86, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his home with family by his side.
John was born in Manchester, England, on June 22, 1929, to John McCulloch of Glasgow, Scotland and Gwendoline Mary (Ireland) McCulloch from Swindon, England. He went to school at Manchester Central Whitworth Street High School and was an Apprenticed Engineer with Reynolds Chains of Manchester, England. John attended Openshaw Technical College and Stockport College of technology. As a Mechanical Engineer, John worked for Henry Simon, Simon Food Engineers of Stockport for over 20 years working all around the world. While working in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, he met his wife of 39 years Wendy Dury of Bristol, England. John’s work eventually brought him to Atlanta, GA and Ripon Foods in Ripon, where he worked as the Project Engineer for 20 years.
John loved to travel especially spending time near the ocean. He was an avid Formula 1 racing fan. His favorite thing to do in retirement was to take his dog, Hunter and later, Rocky to the Ripon dog park and the local trails.
John leaves a wife, Wendy McCulloch of Ripon, WI; sons, Ian of Omro, WI, Neil of Grantham, England and John (Raluka) of Romania; daughter, Fiona (David) Carruthers of Lincoln, England; grandchildren, Jack of Omro, WI, Richard and Frances of Lincoln, England, Leon and Gregory of Grantham, England. He is further survived by sister, Gwen of Richmond, England; step-sister, Dorothy of Gosport, England and many nieces and nephews and many friends that have become an American Family. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Win and half-brother, Ronnie.
Visitation for John will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, from 4:30 – 6:30 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Memorial Service for John will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 6:30 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Reverend Donald Deike will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Salvation Army in Waupun, 409 E. Main St., Waupun, WI 53963, Friends of the Ripon Dog Park, Atten: Elizabeth Olson-Treasurer, 709 Thorne St., Ripon, WI 54971 or Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice, 816 Winneconne Ave., Neenah, WI 54956.
