John Jack Harrison Ide, TSgt USAF (Ret.), PhD Edu, age 84, of Spokane, WA, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Copper Leaf Village in Ripon, WI.
John was born November 30, 1932, in the Klamath Agency in Oregon, the son of John Henry and Evelyn Leola (Medford) Copeland. He was later adopted by Hervey Verner Ide. John served our country in the United States Army and then the Air Force. He married Wei Kim. John was born on the Klamath Indian Reservation and was an enrolled member of the tribe. After high school he entered military service, earning a bachelors degree from the University of Tampa, Florida, during his enlistment. His military career included many assignments as an instructor. Following his retirement from the military, he earned his masters degrees in teaching English as a second language, education, and education psychology, followed by a PhD in education just in time for his seventieth birthday. He had forty years of teaching experience at every level from preschool to graduate school, including both military and civilian courses.
Survivors include his wife, Wei of Ripon, WI; three sons from his first marriage, John Henry (Teresa) Ide of Oregon, WI, William Charles Ide of Las Vegas, NV and Karl Alan (Laurie) Ide of Hawaii; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and brother, Frank Ide of Spokane, WA; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
A private family interment with military honors will take place on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. A memorial in Johns name is being established.
